Mine & Ventilation Shaft Sealing
One of Burke Engineering Services Civil Engineering Specialties is Mine sealing works. We have carried out more than 20 such projects throughout the country and as such are the undisputed industry leader in this field in NSW and probably in the country.
Disused mine shafts are hazardous to the public and the Australian and State Governments have urged companies to seal shafts and drifts to reduce this risk. Sealing mine works involes the consideration of many specialised factors relating to structural integrity, safety, ventilation, pressure, drainage and more.
Burke Engineering Services provide consultation, design and construction services for mine sealing works accross the country.
This line of work has lead us to work with active mines in establishing section seals for current works to seal air locks and ventilation areas against unsafe atmospheres and to establish overpressure blast seals where sudden pressure build ups are allowed to blow past the seal before it closes again.
These and other applications have been undertaken and continue to broaden our experience and undertsanding of these industry-specific requirements.
Projects include:
- Underground active mines
- Ventilation seals
- Over pressure/blast seals
- Old mine closures
- Shaft closure
- Tunnel seals
- Sealing and Capping entry Drifts and portals
We carry out all design and works according to the NSW Department of Primary Industries specifications and codes of practice for mine sealing.
